About the Institute

The Baumann Institute was established in 2009 as a 501 (c)(3) educational and research corporation, dedicated to exploring the nature of awareness and its relationship to human health and well-being. In support of its mission, the Institute is interested in supporting research in several related areas:

  1. Understanding the mind’s tendency to identify with the content of experience (thoughts, feelings, perceptions) and the relationship of identification to psychological suffering.
  2. Exploring the impact that recognizing awareness as the basis of all phenomenal experiences has upon self-identification and human suffering.
  3. Examining the effects that recognition of awareness has upon psychological, interpersonal, biological, and neurological functioning.
  4. Identifying the most effective approaches to recognizing awareness and then stabilizing in and as that.
